Project Officer in Portfolio Management

The GIZ Energy Support Programme (GIZ ESP Home – ESP) supports Viet Nam’s shift toward a sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy future. GIZ ESP works closely with key government agencies, private sector partners, and international organizations to address the country’s fast-growing energy demand and rising environmental challenges. The programme supports the development of strategies and regulations, provides institutional capacity building, and cooperates with companies active in clean energy and energy efficiency to accelerate the deployment of energy transition technologies, the development of green jobs, and grid stability. Active collaboration with the international community, like the JETP (Just Transition Energy Partnership), is a cornerstone of ESP.

   

GIZ’s Energy Support Programme is looking for a qualified professional candidate to fill the following position:

 

Project Officer in Portfolio Management

Duty station: Hanoi, Viet Nam

Duration: ASAP until 31.12.2027

 

Main responsibilities and tasks:

 

  • Supporting in developing the Energy Support Program (ESP) portfolio
  • Monitoring of the ESP portfolio and its impacts
  • Preparation of ESP and Energy Transition related information for commissioning parties and partners
  • Support for JETP topics within GIZ Viet Nam
  • Networking with the international community in Viet Nam working in the energy transition
  • Liaising with GIZ overall portfolio management – incl. support with ProDoc processes

 

Minimum requirements:

 

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an area that is related to Energy Transition, such as energy-based economics and/or energy engineering or equivalent.
  • Profound experience working with international development organisations to support Vietnam’s Energy Transition.
  • Proven network within the international development organisations in Vietnam.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, approach tasks proactively, and provide results on time.
  • Full professional proficiency in English. Advanced knowledge of German is an asset.
